A resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Faisal Sattar, was left stunned after receiving a Rs. 10,000 e-challan for a traffic violation allegedly committed by a car he doesn’t even own.
Faisal, who owns a silver Suzuki Cultus (ASF 613, model 2004), said he was shocked to find that the challan listed a red Suzuki Mehran (ASF 813, model 2003) as the offending vehicle. According to him, the Mehran has no connection to him, and the two cars are entirely different in both color and model.
Adding to the confusion, Faisal revealed that his own car has been parked at home for months and hasn’t been driven. Suspicious of an error, he verified the details on the Excise Department’s website, where he discovered that the Mehran in question is registered to Moonlight Industries, not him.
It appears that the e-challan camera misread the number plate, incorrectly flagging Faisal’s vehicle instead of the actual violator.
When Faisal approached the Traffic Police Facilitation Center, officials informed him that his case would be reviewed by a committee before any decision could be made.
He expressed deep frustration over the ordeal, saying that as a private-sector employee, receiving an unjust Rs. 10,000 challan has put him under immense mental pressure. He fears he may have to visit multiple government offices to clear his name despite having all the evidence in his favor.
