No E-Tag, No Entry in Islamabad

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that all vehicles entering the federal capital, Islamabad, must have an electronic tag (E-tag) within the next two weeks.

He warned that after the deadline, vehicles without E-tags, including those belonging to residents, will not be permitted entry.

Naqvi also ordered law enforcement agencies to intensify operations against illegal residents in the city, emphasizing that every undocumented individual must be identified and deported. “No one will be exempted from this operation,” he stated.

The announcement came in the wake of a deadly suicide bombing outside the Islamabad District Courts in the G-11 area on Tuesday, which claimed at least twelve lives and left twenty-seven others injured.

Following the attack, the interior minister visited the scene and confirmed the casualties. He said emergency teams were working to provide the best possible medical care to the injured, adding that the Prime Minister had personally contacted hospital officials to ensure full medical support.

Naqvi vowed swift action to uncover those responsible, saying, “We will find out who the attacker was, where he came from, and who sent him. Everyone involved will face justice.” He was accompanied at the site by the Inspector General of Police, Chief Commissioner, and other senior security officials.

Forensic teams have begun collecting evidence from the scene as part of the investigation. Officials confirmed that one police driver survived despite his vehicle being struck, while one of the deceased has been identified as a lawyer.
