The Punjab government has revised the Motor Vehicle Act, imposing heavy fines on a wide range of traffic violations to ensure strict enforcement of road safety rules.
Drivers causing air pollution or emitting smoke will face fines of Rs. 5,000 for motorcycles, Rs. 10,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 15,000 for public service vehicles (PSVs), and Rs. 20,000 for heavy transport vehicles (HTVs).
Parking in no-parking zones now carries penalties of Rs. 2,000 for motorcycles, Rs. 10,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 15,000 for PSVs, and Rs. 20,000 for HTVs. Throwing garbage from a moving vehicle will result in fines of Rs. 5,000 for motorcycles, Rs. 10,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 15,000 for PSVs, and Rs. 20,000 for HTVs.
Driving without a seatbelt will cost Rs. 10,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 15,000 for PSVs, and Rs. 20,000 for HTVs. Underage driving attracts the highest penalties: Rs. 25,000 for motorcycles, Rs. 30,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 50,000 for PSVs, and Rs. 100,000 for HTVs.
Using a mobile phone while driving will lead to fines of Rs. 5,000 for motorcycles, Rs. 10,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 15,000 for PSVs, and Rs. 20,000 for HTVs.
Motorcycles carrying more than two passengers will be fined Rs. 5,000. Parking on footpaths or obstructing main roads carries fines of Rs. 2,000 for motorcycles, Rs. 10,000 for cars and jeeps, Rs. 15,000 for PSVs, and Rs. 20,000 for HTVs.
The new fines are aimed at promoting responsible driving, improving road discipline, and reducing traffic accidents across Punjab.

You can see hundreds of videos on tiktok, youtube, facebook etc where so many people are not wearing seatbelts and do speed violations. Who will take action against online vloggers?.
Meaning more hatred
There are people who suffer from issues that disallow them from using seatbelts.
And no parking ? Parking has become a payment .
Allow people to park for free
If someone has a issue where they can’t wear a seat belt then they shouldn’t drive. Tell me a single country which allow driving without seat belt.
Who told you that ? When you eat ir have constipation and you are going home or office
So will your bap or phupar drive them ?
Seat belts tighten your chest and stomach and can be painful if you have issues with digestion or breathing.
Simply don’t drive bro if you’re not fit
So how is someone supposed to go to their job site? With wings ?
What a nonsense, the drivers life safety is more important that his acid in his stomach, he should eat less and take Antacid tablets or an Other medicine…. But he should save his life first!
That’s easy. Driver’s life and safety is reliant on their speed. Drive less then 60 km is far safer then Any seatbelt .
Issues disallowing seatbelts? Please educate us.
I named them in my comment . Try reading next time.
When you eat or if you have issue breathing as the seat belt constraints your chest.
Why aren’t speed limits implemented strictly ?
That should be the main issue.
You should immediately seek medical assistance from:
1. a gastroenterologist for your stomach and acidity problem
2. a pulmonologist for lungs (breathing) issues
3. a psychologist for your anger management
4. a counselor for polite communication skills
But please always wear seat-belts for your safety.
It is not good, because at many cities no parking areas,so where people will stop their vehicles?
Even no planning for anything, and these will be just for poor people,
There should be a fine but this is bullshit….very unreasonable. A person in my country, does not even earn this much so how will he be able to pay?
Nothing to do with public safety just a way to make money. 70 saal baad inko yaad aya k awaam ki jaan azi,z hy
Dair aaye darust aaye. Hum her roz uae or us ki example daitay hain. Ab agar wo wala law implement ho raha hai toh bura kya hai?
Govt wo facilities bi provide kare smooth road, parking spaces, lights footh paths etc…pher copy kare dosray countries ko.
Bilkul 100% agreed
US kay aur is hakumat kay CHAMCHAY, pehlay US jitnay taxes main US jaisi tamaam sahuliyaat awaam ko provide karo aur US jaisay he mukhtasir previleges saddar Wazeer e Azam wazeeron aur afsar shahi ko day ker dikhaao phir awaam per US jaisay qawaneen Naafiz kerna, sahulat to kya awaam ko un ka koi aik haq bhe nahin jaata aur aaye din naey naey naam nehaad qawaneen kay naam per her mehkamay aur her idaaray say awaam say ghunda tax wasool kiya jaa raha hai, is mulk main total ghunda raaj hai, aadhay say ziyada to mukhtalif sarkari mehkamon kay daaku hain jo din raat awaam ko loot rahay hain aur baaqi private daaku aur chor hain, awaam ka haq to koi nahin bus ye farz hai kay wo apnay khoon paseenay ki kamaai in sarkari aur private daakuon ko Khilaati rahay.
Everything takes time it’s a good thing, if a thing is going wrong for 70 that doesn’t mean it should go wrong in future. That’s not a thing ke 70 Saal bd yaad aya, if they do something they’re discouraged and if they don’t do something that’s even worse
Dair aye darust aye
Better late than never !
Parents with small children must be allowed on motorbike, if there are no facility to park then what?
Looting nation for new London flats
Government should have to make parking on different sides on main road, there is no space in market instead of shopping malls, industries, or hospitals to park there vehicle, you guys are just getting a way to robb peoples, this is not a country we need, If you want to make rolls first you should have to follow
This draconian act directly needs Supreme Court’s intervention and top officials of national assembly, as we are loving in Pakistan where a lowest wages are Rs 40000/- per month not per day. Authorities have gone crazy in their quest of collecting money from citizens pockets for their fund raising. Population in the country just cannot let their children go hungry for days just making a mistake where even main roads don’t have markings.
The city like Lahore were constructed not in a modern planned way. Education level is poorest, compared to the imposition of most modern cities laws.
What’s off to the these thinkers sitting in air-conditioned offices with big thoughts.
Sadly we are not concerned about our public which is 90 % in villages.
Meray bhaai 40000 to Govt ki ailaan kerda kam say kam tankhuwah hai lakin ye sirf hakumati mulaazmeen ko milti hai baqi 70 feesad awaam to private nokriyaan kerti hai aur private puray mulk main aik bhe Idaara ya company aisi nahin jo hakumat jitnay duty timings main hakumat jitni kam say kam tankhuwah day, hakumat nay to 8 ghantay duty ki kam say kam tankhuwah 40000 bataai hai lakin haqeeqat ye hai kay baychaaray ghareeb log to 12 ghantay duty ki sirf 12000 say 15000 tankhuwah per kaam kernay per majboor hain
Simply crazy mind me and reckless way of correcting violators like in Sind that is now reviewing such heavy fines… Instead, provincial govts should work on setting MOT type annual authorised fitness centers across provinces, develop parking infrastructure and road sign boards for speed limits, parking, lines on roads… It’s govt responsibility to develop this culture of compliance rather dunda approach
A driver earn 30 to 35 thousand salary can’t be pay such heavy fines 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Fines are too much. No one will be be able to pay the fines. It will create unreast among the public and society as a whole.
Nothing to do with public safety just a way to make money. 70 saal baad inko yaad aya k awaam ki jaan azi,z hy
Why no fine for overspeending and risky driving
Very true it’s just to get funds and then you know election and change
Rule should b as facilitate people’s. These rules will not abide by transporter . Ruksha and daily ریڑھی والے did not know the rules.
Govt should make free stand and parking.
This is good initiative to address the traffic issues but it will create unrest in the community as it will not be implemented equally to all the violators as our system always protects the influential people. Secondly the amount of fines that will be charged is high, it will be hard to pay particularly for the people who will commit it mistakenly without knowing the circumstances.
Need to reduce the fine charges and at the same new rules must be communicated properly by visual sign boards or billboards and through news papers as well.
This is a very good measure, it should have been implemented long time ago. Pakistan has the most ill mannered, rude and undicplined traffic in the world but I think tje fines are to low, they should start from 10,000 and go up to 150,000….I had to pay six hundred dollar fine in australia for not wearing a seat belt on a very short distance drive. I congratulate the punjab government. Lastly, those who dont pay the fine should go to jail and their vehicle impounded with further fine.
Sath Baji Ka rishta b dain gi govt ?
One should has to ask that person is Pakistanis are earning as much? 2nd are you people providing facilities like parking etc
Totally senseless persons who are approving these recommendations.
Why no fine for speedy and risky driving
Such a pathetic way to just grab public money and into their own pockets.
Kitni dair air, kitna jee lain gey bad main to zamin main Jana hai na
There is already high inflation people are facing and its better to increase the fines gradually rather than steep increase in one go which will make the people more uncomfortable and angry.
Bro stop disobeying the law… trust me you won’t get fined :)
While, the Mafia gets NROs and immunities….
Can people even afford such heavy fines??
How will they know if a vehicle is emmiting smoke to be fined?
In Winters, water vapours come out of tail pipes of every vehicle!! How to measure?
I am flabbergasted by the comments hereunder. Crossing a red light in UAE is aed 10,000 I.e 8 lack rupees.
We need to wake up, if you don’t break a law you don’t get fined.
What government is doing is done worldwide
Right brother
Do we have roads life uae ?
Do we have affordability like uae ?
Do we have luxuries of uae ?
Do we have governance like uae ?
Do we have less taxes like uae ?
Ab bolo
You’re absolutely right! We don’t have any of those things, so we shouldn’t be required to pay such a high fine of 8 lakh rupees. Since those conditions don’t apply to us, the fines should be much lower. Let’s push the government to reduce them to something more reasonable, like PKR 10,000 :)
Lol… try living there
With this mindset you’ll be locked up in jail… and none of your “contacts” are gonna work to set you free
Ghalat kaam kr k usko defend krna hai… wow
True they just want to ditch us all in the hell
UAE ki tarah economical and social security or public facilities b faraham kar do tab manen gey. Yahan aam admi 10000 bacha nahi pata tu fine ki 10000 tuk nahi banti.
You are right but they surrounds like a gang without any reason tell me which motorcycle recovered after theft literally no one so they are just burden to whole nation nothing else
انتہاٸی زیادتی ہے اتنے ہیوی جرمانے۔۔جرمانہ کریں مگر ایک لمٹ میں پبلک جو برداشت بھی کرسکے ۔۔
If govt fine, then they should pay back money after one month. That will be enough for public teaching. After that they should return half amount and after that they should can fine reasonable amount. This will not increase hatred and also increase public awareness. Govt must behave sensibly.
And what will be fine when a one becomes CM after losing her election on form 47, and who lied that she even don’t had any property in Pakistan and afterwards she found with huge properties.
That’s another matter don’t link traffic fines to government overtake be sensible
Very true lifetime imprisonment and can never stand again for election
THIS IS A GREAT STEP, BUT THE PROBLEM, WHERE DO WE PARK THE BIKE OR CAR IN THE CITY, WHERE ALREADY LESS SPACE ON ROADS AND SIDE WAYS?
Thats the point inko pata ha yeh bat issi bat pe paisa ana 100% ha ab inhon ne to manana nae challan pakke hain naye kamai ka zariya instead of solutions yeh apni kamai ke tariqe nikal lete
Excellent,
implementation must be fine as soon as possible.
Good idea.traffic chalan..
Making the fines this high is just going to open the door for corruption as motorists will offer bribes to police officers to get out of said fines.
very good deceion
what about age limit the age limit should also be notify also i۔e 65 years
Good also try to implement car distance, lane discipline and reckless driving fines.
If someone caused of accident should be fined.
Good initiative… but one big thing that govt is failing to control is… driving/riding in the opposite direction of the lane
Something 90% of the motorcyclists do
First make parking places then do some thing. You are copying dubai ,but we are in pakistan.
Hakoomat ne gaalian khane k zabardast programme banaya he, aqal k andhoo itna ziyada zulm he, parking k leye pooray shahr me jaga kum he, log kiya karey gay, sawaye cm ko gaalian dene k
Really appreciated
We want our country to be like Dubai etc but we don’t want to oblige or put up the efforts.
Many considers this money making scheme but the same people will oblige when they are driving in foreign countries.
Respect your country and respect the laws
Stop playing ghurbat k dramabazzi
When Sindh government enforced heavy fines on traffic violations in Karachi , the local political parties started hue and cry and condemned the Sindh government on imposing such fines and now the punjab government also decided and enforced heavy fines on traffic violation. Now what saying and what is reaction of those political parties? Why they are silent?
Welcome to BRIBE promotion laws.
Lal bujhakar law ..
Heavy fines for motorcyclists who drive in middle and right side of road. This is a major cause of accidents. Motorcyclists need to be trained to stay on left side unless they have to turn. Only then they can change lanes. If this can be achieved it will be a true miracle.
Yes. Wait to see implementation though
Fines are only good if implemented in an honest way.
This government is Illegal!!
What to expect??
Steep fines. Poor will not be able to afford. The Government needs to be reasonable. As for parking on footpaths, just check all the footpaths in Gulberg B3, Gulberg 3. All the Schools, high rise building etc., park on the footpaths, and even before the entrance of gates of residences.
Its not a question of affordability but obeying the law. The fines for these violations are much more than this in other civilized countries
In this list fines for overspending are not included? Isn’t it important?
This is just collecting the revenue on imposing high fine and what the traffic wardens are doing just doing chalans and nothing and their behaviour is like they are prime minister. Whereas controlling traffic in more populous areas is not upgraded.
Many such points in Lahore where traffic pressure is so high and no warden is seen during these hours.
They just achieving their so called targets even 12 at midnight.
Assalaam-O-Alaikum.
The new different traffic penalties and challans being introduced by traffic police if practiced in good spirit will no doubt effect the pockets of the law breaking persons is nice step.
A good step. It should be done in Federal Capital as well.
