The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has launched an extensive citywide cleaning operation, covering more than 40 major roads to maintain a waste-free and pollution-free environment in the provincial capital.
According to an official press release, the operation involved scraping, washing, sprinkling, and other anti-dust measures across Lahore’s busiest routes, including Ferozepur Road, Hali Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Noor Jahan Road, Mall Road, Sagiyan Road, Taj Company Road, Shahdara Chowk, GT Road, Truck Adda, and Lorry Adda.
Special Cleaning and Anti-Dust Operations Underway
The LWMC reported that scraping and sprinkling operations are ongoing in areas such as Circular Road, Aik Moria Pull, Railway Station, Shalimar Gardens, Bhogiwal Road, Daroghawala, and Salamatpura.
Similarly, scraping activities are in progress in Mominpura Bhini Road, Dharampura, Harbanspura, and Rehmanpura, while anti-dust teams are actively deployed on major routes, including Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Peco Road, Allah Hoo Chowk, College Road, Bagrian Chowk, Kacha Jail Road, Madar-e-Millat Road, Multan Road, Thokar Chowk, MAO College Chowk, Chauburji, and Azadi Chowk.
Door-to-Door Waste Collection Launched
LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Babar Sahib Din announced that a door-to-door waste collection initiative has been rolled out across all union councils.
“Ten waste collection rickshaws will be deployed in each union council to ensure timely and efficient garbage collection,” he said.
The CEO urged citizens to cooperate with LWMC teams, properly dispose of garbage, and use designated trash bins to help reduce air pollution and maintain public hygiene.
Encroachment Removal Drive Gains Momentum
Meanwhile, the district administration, in collaboration with the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (Pera) Force and the Metropolitan Corporation of Lahore (MCL), carried out a massive anti-encroachment operation across the city.
During the last 24 hours, authorities cleared 1,024 encroachments and removed 2,395 banners and flexes from various localities.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Musa Raza said that all obstructions affecting traffic flow will be removed immediately.
“The campaign will continue daily until the city is completely encroachment-free,” he stated, adding that the operation would be conducted transparently and impartially because “no one is above the law.”
The DC also directed all relevant departments to coordinate efforts and extend full support to the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign.
