Karachi Traffic Police has decided to deploy robots to issue e-challans under the city’s ongoing E-Tracks system.
Speaking at an event, DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah announced that a third method for issuing electronic challans will soon be introduced. This time through robots.
He said that starting next month, “No Parking” and “No Two-Lane” signboards will be installed across various roads, including Saddar and Tariq Road. The newly introduced robots will patrol these routes at a speed of around 20 kilometers per hour.
According to Shah, the robots will automatically scan vehicles as they move along the roads. Any car found violating parking or traffic regulations will receive an e-challan directly through the system.
He further noted that within just two weeks of implementing the E-Tracks system, nearly 50,000 motorists in Karachi have already been fined for traffic violations.
They should also make all the ministers and chief minister robots so that corruption is controlled.

Fining is commendable but has it lead to any improvement in traffic of Karachi. Have the motorcyclist and busses started driving in their own lane. Most of the challan is for personal safety, Helmet wearing and Seat belt wearing. What is needed more challan for road safety. Also repair of roads and re engineering of u turns and roundabouts is essential to ensure smooth traffic
Really appreciate the initiative taken by our traffic police and hope it will continue with same spirit. However, it is an humble request with authority to reconsider the value of challan it’s really to high for middle class and lower middle class people. Since long people of Karachi are not habitual to fully abide by traffic rules and it has different reason including but not limited to poor infrastructure, lake of knowledge, negligence of authorities and most important behavioural issues.
Please also develop a policy for the commercial vehicles, mini busses, chinchi, trucks and dumper because most of them don’t have visible number plates and it seem they are exempted from e-challan and it is effectively focused on personal vehicles.

First and foremost, Govt. should curtail without license driving. Almost 100% of rickshaw drivers are driving without license and a high percentage of commercial vehicles too.
A rough estimation is 40% vehicles on road are driven without license and this is the main reason of pressure on roads and violation.

Judging your performance by how many chalans have you made in a particular time is not good. You must show your performance by saying that how they motorists now behaving on the streets. Your e-chalan income must decline accordingly and that will be a positive sign.
As per the condition of the roads these robots will fell and get damaged.
