Govt to Launch New Survey Across Islamabad Next Week

The federal government has decided to launch the “Safe Secure Islamabad” initiative to strengthen security across the capital, two days after a suicide blast outside the district and sessions court in G-11 left 12 people dead and 36 injured.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry announced the initiative during a press conference outside Parliament House, alongside Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon and Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

He said the program would include a first-of-its-kind “Secure Neighbourhood” survey, designed to provide the administration with detailed information on every house, shop, and office in the capital. The survey will record the number of residents, their age, nationality, and whether the property is rented or owned.

Chaudhry added that the survey would not only improve municipal service delivery but also supply large volumes of data for security planning. The minister said the project aims to be completed within three months.

Deputy Commissioner Memon explained that residents can participate by downloading the ICT Household Survey app and providing details about their household, residents, servants, and property ownership.

Door-to-door survey teams will begin work on Monday to enter the information into the database. Memon emphasized that properties with incomplete data would be flagged, and the administration would retrieve missing details “by force or other means” if necessary.
