Work on Rawalpindi’s signal-free corridor project is advancing steadily, with major milestones already achieved on key intersections. Authorities have completed 80 percent of the piling on the Jinnah Park flyover and 10 percent on the corresponding underpass.
A review meeting chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak on Thursday reported that 28 percent of the piling and 32 percent of the girder work on the Kachehri Chowk flyover is finished, along with 17 percent of piling on the Kachehri Chowk underpass.
At Iftikhar Janjua Chowk, officials have completed guide beam work and have begun drilling. Construction at the three major intersections — Iftikhar Janjua Chowk, Kachehri Chowk, and Jinnah Park — officially started on November 3.
Commissioner Khattak emphasized the need for transparency, timely completion, and strict compliance with environmental standards. He confirmed that the released funds have been spent according to the financial plan and authorized further releases to maintain project momentum.
The Commissioner also instructed the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to accelerate work on the Annexy Chowk and Iftikhar Janjua underpasses to ensure smoother traffic flow between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The review meeting included Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Zainia Humayun, the Superintending Engineer Highways, and officers from relevant departments, who provided updates on the ongoing construction and progress at all project sites.

Is it container free ? No ?
Then never mind. It’s pointless
Typical pessimist Pakistani
For the smooth traffic and convenience of the public and advocates lawyers who park their vehicles in jinnah park coming through ammar chowk, should have u turn from the same route from jinnah park entrance. Presently public coming from murree road through ammar chowk have to drive towards ayub park to drive back to ammar chowk. Which is a long way and difficult due to rush at peak hours.
It’s advised when convenient alternative is available then it should be adopted
I very much doubt if the worthy commissioner has the guts to instruct FWO.
We wish it’s not wastage of our tax payments like Ammar Chowk.
Secondly request for the improvement of 22no Chowk.
