Islamabad, Rawalpindi to Get Massive Modern Slaughterhouse

Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak, jointly chaired a meeting of the Meat Board to review progress on the establishment of a modern slaughterhouse in Islamabad.

According to the briefing, the preliminary study for the Islamabad Slaughterhouse Project has been completed, and both operational and financial models have been finalized. The project aims to fulfill more than 60 percent of the meat requirements of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, addressing a long-standing need for a modern and hygienic meat processing facility for the twin cities.

The master plan for the project includes the construction of a slaughter hall, service building, warehouse, sewage system, quarantine ward, and water treatment plant. The slaughterhouse will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for chilling and cold storage, ensuring the highest hygiene and safety standards in meat processing and preservation.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak emphasized that all relevant stakeholders from both cities should be included in the execution of the project. He directed that a special monitoring mechanism be established to ensure the timely implementation and effective operation of the slaughterhouse.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that the project’s objective is to ensure the supply of high-quality, hygienic meat in accordance with health standards. He added that the modern slaughterhouse would not only improve the domestic meat supply chain but also pave the way for potential meat exports from the twin cities to international markets.
