Date Revealed for Punjab E-Taxi Scheme Balloting

The Punjab government has announced that it will conduct the balloting for its electric taxi scheme in the last week of November, as public demand for the program continues to surge.

According to officials, more than 28,000 people have applied for the scheme so far. The Provincial Transport Department has forwarded the complete data of applicants to the Bank of Punjab, which will oversee the balloting process.

Once the draw is held, selected applicants will be contacted to submit their down payments. Authorities said those who pay the required amount will receive their electric taxis within three to four months.

The Punjab government launched the E-Taxi Scheme 2025 on September 17, introducing an interest-free, five-year financing plan for applicants. A total of 1,100 electric taxis imported from China will be distributed in the first phase, including 30 reserved for women drivers.

To support the rollout, the government is developing a charging network and has created an online portal to streamline applications and future documentation.
