French Ambassador Nicolas Galey Applauds L’Oréal Pakistan’s Impact on Women’s Empowerment and Economic Progress

French Ambassador to Pakistan, His Excellency Nicolas Galey, visited L’Oréal Pakistan’s headquarters in Karachi, recognizing the company’s contribution to strengthening economic ties, advancing women’s empowerment, and promoting sustainability in Pakistan.

During the visit, Ambassador Galey met with Rehan Saeed, Executive General Manager of L’Oréal Pakistan, along with members of the leadership team and beneficiaries of the company’s social impact programs. Discussions centered around L’Oréal Pakistan’s long-term investment, expansion of local manufacturing, and its community-driven initiatives that continue to uplift lives across the country.

“It’s a real pleasure to be here at L’Oréal Pakistan today,” said Ambassador Nicolas Galey. “L’Oréal represents not only one of France’s most admired global companies but also one of its most meaningful partnerships with Pakistan. Its commitment to empowering women, strengthening local industry, and supporting communities truly reflects the values France stands for.”

Since its inception in 2009, L’Oréal Pakistan has invested over PKR 4.3 billion in foreign direct investment and PKR 1.68 billion in capital expenditure. Today, with a largely locally manufactured mass-market portfolio and extensive supplier and salon networks across the country, the company continues to strengthen Pakistan’s economic and creative ecosystem through a focus on localization, job creation, and capability building.

Ambassador Galey commended this progress, noting that L’Oréal’s dual commitment to innovation and inclusion mirrors France’s vision for sustainable global partnerships.

“L’Oréal Pakistan represents the best of what French companies bring to their international partnerships – innovation, inclusion, and a commitment to community,” said Ambassador Galey. “It is inspiring to see how these values are shaping lives here in Pakistan.”

He also praised the company’s approach to empowerment, adding: “L’Oréal stands for women’s rights, gender balance, and social progress – values that France shares deeply. It’s very satisfying to see the private sector, not just public institutions, pursuing the same roadmap and objectives.”

The Ambassador also interacted with beneficiaries from the Digital Literacy Program (with CIRCLE) and Beauty for a Better Life (with Depilex SmileAgain Foundation) – women who shared personal stories of resilience, self-reliance, and transformation. These testimonials reflected how training in digital literacy, financial management, and beauty skills has helped them build sustainable livelihoods and confidence.

“L’Oréal stands for women’s rights, gender balance, and social progress – values that France shares deeply. It’s very satisfying to see the private sector, not just public institutions, pursuing the same roadmap and objectives.” said Ambassador Galey.

Rehan Saeed emphasized that these initiatives are not peripheral but core to L’Oréal’s mission of creating beauty with purpose.

“Our purpose is to create beauty that moves the world – and here in Pakistan, that means beauty that empowers, educates, and uplifts,” said Rehan Saeed. “Every person trained, every job created, every life touched is a reflection of our belief that beauty can be a force for good.”

He further added: “L’Oréal Pakistan’s journey has always been about more than business. It’s about building an ecosystem of inclusion – where partnerships, education, and social progress go hand in hand. We are proud to represent French excellence with a distinctly Pakistani soul.”

L’Oréal has played a pivotal role in supporting and building communities, including being the largest single corporate contributor during the floods, with a donation of €1 million.

“L’Oréal Pakistan is a shining example of how French companies can make a long-term, positive impact abroad – building economic resilience, advancing social inclusion, and promoting sustainable innovation,” added Ambassador Galey.

The visit concluded with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing Franco-Pakistani collaboration, anchored in sustainable growth, inclusion, and purpose – ensuring that progress continues to move hand in hand with impact.
