Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Monday to open the newly renovated Cantt railway station, marking a major step in the government’s ongoing effort to modernize Pakistan’s rail network.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and senior officials received him upon arrival. After reaching the station, the prime minister toured the upgraded building and reviewed the changes made during the months-long restoration.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi briefed him on the improvements, saying the project was designed to ease passenger movement and bring the station up to modern standards.
The renovated facility now features two redesigned lounges, three spacious waiting halls, executive-standard restrooms, and four escalators to manage daily foot traffic. An information desk has also been added to help passengers with schedules, ticketing issues, and travel guidance.
Officials say the refurbishment will improve the overall travel experience for thousands of commuters who use the Karachi Cantt station every day, making it a more efficient and passenger-friendly hub.
