Punjab Launches Electric Bus Service in Rawalpindi

The Punjab government has launched its new electric bus service in Rawalpindi, marking another step toward expanding sustainable transport in the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the service on Wednesday.

The electric buses include air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, charging ports, wheelchair access, and a dedicated compartment for women. The fare has been set at Rs.20, while women, senior citizens, and children with special needs can travel free of cost.

Officials said the initiative is part of a broader development plan for Rawalpindi, which includes signal-free corridors, new flyovers, road upgrades, and major investments in public infrastructure. The government has allocated substantial funding for road construction and improvements to support the new transport network.
