Four Routes Revealed for Rawalpindi Electric Bus Service

Punjab’s new electric bus service is now fully operational in Rawalpindi, with the government releasing the complete route structure for Phase-I. The system currently runs 45 electric buses across four main corridors, forming the first stage of a wider transport upgrade that will soon expand to 80 buses.

The government also plans to launch similar services in Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock. The buses feature air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, free Wi-Fi, and charging ports. Passengers will pay a Rs. 20 fare, while women, students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities can travel free.

Officials expect the service to reduce travel time, improve reliability, and help cut urban pollution.

Phase-I routes include:

  • Route 1: Saddar to Qabristan Chowk on Misrial Road via Qasim Market and Shalley Valley.
  • Route 2: Fawara Chowk to Koral Chowk via Liaquat Bagh, Sir Syed Road, and Old Airport Road.
  • Route 3: Saddar Metro Bus Station to Munawar Colony via Tulsa Road.
  • Route 4: Marrir Metro Bus Station to Motorway Chowk via The Mall and Peshawar Road.

Officials say the new network will ease traffic pressure, shorten travel times, and improve daily commuting for thousands of residents. They added that the expansion to additional districts will further strengthen public transport access across the region.
