Bangladesh’s seasoned wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has made cricketing history during his landmark 100th Test match for his country.
The legendary figure in Bangladesh cricket carved out another historic chapter in Dhaka after scoring a century in his 100th game, a milestone achieved by only a handful of players in cricket’s long history.
Playing the second Test of the home series against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mushfiqur resumed day two on 99* and needed just one run to reach three figures. He collected it with a calm single early in the morning session, and soaked in the applause from the crowd.
With this century, Mushfiqur Rahim became only the 11th cricketer ever to score a hundred in his 100th Test match. The exclusive club includes global icons such as Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, and Joe Root, now joined by one of Bangladesh’s most respected modern greats.

His stay ended on 106 when he edged left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys to second slip, where Andy Balbirnie held on to a sharp catch. As he walked off, Irish players applauded in appreciation, and the Sher-e-Bangla crowd gave him a standing ovation befitting a national hero.
Bangladesh already led the two-match series 1–0 after a commanding win in Sylhet, and Mushfiqur’s latest feat further solidified their dominance in the ongoing contest.
