Sindh Govt Shares Update on E-Challan Fines Reduction

The Sindh government has shared a fresh update regarding the ongoing discussion about reducing e-challan fines in Karachi. Recent reports suggested that the provincial authorities were considering lowering penalties for certain violations after widespread public complaints.

However, the government has now made its position clear: the fines will not be reduced. Speaking to the media in Karachi, Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said the e-challan system applies only to Karachi residents and the penalty amounts will remain unchanged.

He said improving city services remains a priority, noting that the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board is being strengthened and divisional boards across the province are being activated. He added that garbage collection must be made more efficient across all neighborhoods.

Responding to political criticism, Shah said some parties issue statements only to create noise, adding that Karachi’s development requires cooperation rather than conflict. He also said the provincial government is working to empower local bodies.

Shah reiterated that the fines will not be reduced and stressed that all stakeholders must work together to improve Karachi’s traffic management and urban governance.
