Google has started rolling out a new “Where to Watch” feature inside the Google Play Store, making it easier for users to find out which streaming service offers a movie or TV show. The update aims to solve a long-standing frustration for viewers who often jump between apps searching for something to watch.
When users search for a movie or series in the Play Store, a new card now lists every streaming platform that currently has it. If a user doesn’t already have that app installed, the card provides a quick option to download it.
Previously, viewers relied on regular Google searches, Gemini responses, or third-party apps — many of which displayed outdated or inaccurate availability. Google says the new system will offer more reliable and timely information.
Streaming rights shift constantly, with titles moving between Netflix, Hulu, Peacock and other services throughout the year. Google’s new tool aims to reduce the confusion and wasted time that comes with tracking these changes.
By adding this feature directly into the Play Store, Google is positioning the app not just as a download hub, but as a central guide to an increasingly fragmented streaming landscape.
The update is meant for anyone who has ever spent several minutes switching between apps only to discover the title they wanted isn’t available where they thought. The new feature presents that information immediately, cutting down on the usual browsing and guesswork.
Google plans to expand the rollout soon. The expected next steps include integrating “Where to Watch” into Gemini and Android TV, creating a single system that can show streaming availability across all devices.
