The Interior Ministry has clarified that Pakistani travellers must still satisfy immigration officials at airports even if they hold a valid visa, as part of stricter measures to prevent visa misuse and protect Pakistan’s global reputation.
In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry warned that passengers may be offloaded if they fail to justify the purpose of travel or cannot present essential documents, including return tickets, hotel bookings, and bank statements.
Officials said some individuals obtain visas for destinations such as Senegal but then attempt onward illegal travel, prompting tighter scrutiny at departure counters.
The clarification follows rising social media complaints about passengers being offloaded. The ministry stated that the enhanced checks aim to ensure responsible travel and stop activities that could harm Pakistan’s international image.
