Islamabad Announces Locations for Emission Testing

The Islamabad administration has expanded its vehicle emission testing facilities, increasing the number of inspection points from one to four.

Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said motorists can now undergo emissions testing at Lake View Park, F-9 Park, and Metro Cash and Carry, in addition to the original D-Chowk site.

He visited all four locations and appealed to citizens to get their vehicles inspected on time. The initiative aims to provide easier access for motorists and improve compliance with environmental regulations.

Earlier this week, the Islamabad Transport Authority launched a major crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles to help maintain a healthier Air Quality Index in the federal capital. Officials announced that a Vehicular Emission Clearance Certificate is now mandatory for all drivers, and no vehicle will be allowed on city roads without it.

Chairman Irfan Memon reiterated that smoke-emitting vehicles will not be tolerated due to their harmful environmental impact. He instructed staff to submit daily reports to ensure transparency and continuity of the enforcement drive.
