The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has dismantled a nationwide fake milk network operating out of the Hattar Industrial Zone in Haripur, seizing thousands of litres of chemically prepared artificial milk during a late-night raid.
Officials said the gang, led by Maqsood Bhatti, had moved its operations to KP after being caught in Punjab. A special team supervised directly by the director general raided the facility and arrested multiple suspects inside the factory.
Authorities discovered large quantities of chemical ingredients and heavy machinery used to manufacture artificial milk. Tankers carrying nearly 100,000 litres of hazardous milk—reportedly supplied daily to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other major cities—were seized and destroyed on the spot.
The illegal plant was immediately sealed, and all machinery was confiscated and demolished within 24 hours. Three individuals, including the factory manager, were arrested, and an FIR was registered. The Haripur Food Authority’s district team was suspended for negligence.
The KP government reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on food adulteration, vowing continued crackdowns against such networks to protect public health.
