The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Friday sealed an illegal under-construction building in Bahria Town Phase VIII and initiated legal action against the developers.
The RDA team also filed an FIR at Rawat police station against Bahria Town CEO Ali Riaz, the building owner, and the contractor for violating building laws.
According to officials, the action was taken under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2021. The property owners had begun construction without securing mandatory approvals or no-objection certificates (NOCs).
An RDA spokesperson said Director General Kinza Murtaza had instructed the Land Use and Building Control Wing to take strict action against all encroachments and illegal commercial or residential activities.
She also ordered a comprehensive survey to assess fees, commercialisation charges, and complementary maps for regularising unapproved structures within the RDA’s jurisdiction.
The DG emphasised that the authority is committed to regulated urban development and urged citizens to cooperate by removing encroachments voluntarily.
In a separate operation, the RDA Land Directorate visited University Town Housing Scheme and installed signboards on mortgage plots and transferred deed sites, including amenity spaces such as a school, mosque, graveyard, and public buildings.
The initiative aims to ensure transparency and prevent unauthorised use of designated public facilities.
DG Kinza Murtaza said the authority will continue strict monitoring of housing schemes to ensure compliance with rules and protect public interest.

Case should be filed against Miss kinza and RDA for taking late action . Members suffered losses because of RDA late response. They kept quiet till member suffer complete loss and help developer to run out of country. The sleeping queen wake up.
