CDA Orders Probe After Attack on Green Electric Bus

A Green Electric Bus operating on the Nilore–Khanna Pul route in Islamabad came under attack when unidentified individuals hurled stones at the vehicle, shattering its windows. The incident triggered panic among passengers, many of whom feared for their safety as the bus came to a halt after the assault.

CDA Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa took notice of the attack and directed authorities to conduct an immediate investigation. He stated that those involved in such acts deserve no leniency and reaffirmed that the city administration will not compromise on the Green Urban Transport initiative aimed at providing safe and sustainable mobility to citizens.

According to CDA sources, the assault appears to be linked to local transporters who are reportedly dissatisfied with the growing popularity of the Green Electric Bus service. Officials said that similar attacks have been carried out on different routes in the past, allegedly by groups seeking to disrupt modern transport services.

The CDA confirmed that a formal complaint regarding the attack has been registered with the police. Law enforcement agencies have been tasked with identifying and apprehending the perpetrators at the earliest to prevent further disruptions to the public transport system.

The company operating the electric buses stated that this is not the first time its fleet has been targeted. A damage assessment is currently underway to determine the financial loss caused by the latest attack. The operator urged authorities to enhance security measures to ensure uninterrupted service for commuters.
