The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Servants Appointment Rules have been amended to allow special recruitment for the son or widow of government employees martyred in terrorist incidents.
The decision aims to provide immediate support to families who lose a breadwinner due to terrorism.
The amendments, introduced under Section 26 of the KP Civil Servants Act, 1973, follow directives from the chief minister and have been notified by the Establishment Department.
A new clause, Rule 10 (3A), enables the appointing authority to directly recruit one child of a martyred civil servant. If the child is underage, the widow becomes eligible for the appointment. In cases where a martyred employee had two widows, preference will go to the elder widow.
The recruitment will be made against Provincial cadre posts from BPS-3 to BPS-11 and District cadre posts from BPS-3 to BPS-12, provided the applicant meets the required qualifications.
Appointments will depend on available vacancies, and if several posts are open, the candidate may be placed on the higher pay scale they qualify for. However, the notification makes it clear that this special recruitment does not apply to posts handled by the Public Service Commission.
The move has been welcomed as a timely relief for the families of martyred government workers, recognizing their sacrifice and offering a path to financial stability.
