Babar Azam’s Father Invited as Special Guest by Sydney Sixers

The Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Sydney Sixers has invited Azam Siddique, father of Pakistani star batter Babar Azam, as a special guest.

Sharing the news on his Instagram, Azam Siddique posted photos of himself enjoying the beautiful beaches of Sydney.

In his caption, he expressed excitement about attending the match and experiencing the city after a long journey. He also thanked the Sydney Sixers for the invitation, ending his post with “Pakistan Zindabad.”

Babar Azam’s arrival in Australia has generated significant excitement, particularly as several top Pakistani players are set to participate this season.

Babar’s signing with the Sixers was confirmed in June, with the franchise describing his contract as one of the largest in BBL history.

The Sixers already boast a strong squad, and Babar’s inclusion strengthens their batting lineup. With a mix of experienced Australian and international players, his presence is expected to bring stability and consistency at the top of the order.

While Steve Smith remains part of the Sixers squad, he is unlikely to join the team immediately due to his Ashes commitments. In his absence, Josh Philippe is expected to open the innings, likely partnering with Babar Azam.

Babar has been Pakistan’s most prolific T20I opener, scoring 2,973 runs at a strike rate of 130.57 in that role. His technique is well-suited to the bounce and pace of Australian pitches, which could allow him to make an immediate impact for the Sixers.

BBL 15 is scheduled from 14 December to 25 January 2026, featuring 44 prime-time early-evening matches. The tournament will kick off with a clash between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers.
