Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram to Slow Down in Pakistan

Meta has announced a major maintenance activity scheduled to begin at 1 AM on 11 December and continue until 1 PM on 12 December.

The maintenance is expected to cause service degradation across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other Meta services. Users may experience slower performance, delays in message delivery, and intermittent disruptions throughout the period.

PTCL, a leading internet service provider, has alerted its customers about the upcoming maintenance through official communication. The company warned that access to Meta services may be affected even if users have stable internet connectivity. PTCL noted that the disruption is part of Meta’s planned technical work aimed at improving system reliability and performance.

According to experts, PTCL is reporting it on behalf of META, which is strange.

Experts say that extended maintenance windows like this may impact business operations, particularly for those who depend on Meta platforms for communication, marketing, and customer engagement. Small and medium enterprises could encounter difficulties in real-time communication and service delivery during the disruption.

  • “According to experts, PTCL is reporting it on behalf of META, which is strange” – Which experts?

Why would Meta report an issue that’s specific to one ISPs CDN? I think this is the only country where people get hysterical about routine maintenance and need to turn everything into a conspiracy.
