A new report reveals that Google and Apple are collaborating on features that will make switching between Android and iOS easier than ever. The first sign of this joint effort appears in the latest Android Canary build released today.
This early implementation is aimed at developers, and it will take time before the improved switching tools reach the Android Beta channel and eventually a stable release. Still, development is underway, confirming that more seamless migration between platforms is on the horizon.
Apple is expected to add support for these features in an upcoming iOS 26 update. According to the report, more data types than before will be transferable in both directions, Android to iOS and iOS to Android. Additional features will also be part of the upgrade.
Until now, users moving from iOS to Android have relied on Google’s Android Switch app, while those transitioning to iOS have used Apple’s Move to iOS app.
The new, built-in system-level tools being developed by both companies are intended to streamline the process and eliminate many of the friction points found in the current app-based solutions.
For now, there is no timeline for release, but the hope is that the new migration features will arrive sooner rather than later.
