Major Recruitment Fraud in KP Finance Department Reportedly Uncovered

A major scandal has reportedly emerged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Department, revealing 88 illegal recruitments of drivers, Naib Qasids, and sanitary workers under fake position codes PR4041, PR8657, and PR8042.

These irregularities, carried out between 2019 and 2024, have reportedly caused a loss of over Rs440 million to the state treasury.

Documents reportedly show that the recruitments were conducted secretly, without following legal procedures.

No official advertisements were issued, no recruitment committee was formed, and the vacancies neither existed nor had proper approvals.

Basic employment documents, including service books and medical records, were reportedly missing for all 88 employees.

Sources indicate that officials from both the Finance Department and the Accountant General’s (AG) Office were reportedly involved. When the scandal came to light, most employees were reportedly rapidly transferred across departments, as verified from official records.

Although the Finance Department formally instructed the AG Office to suspend salaries, the order was reportedly ignored, prolonging the financial loss.

AG Office sources reportedly stated that inquiry orders were issued, but could not explain why salaries continued to be issued.

Efforts to contact Accountant General Khalid Mahmood for clarification reportedly failed.

KP Chief Minister’s Finance Adviser Mazammil Aslam confirmed that an inquiry committee has been formed to identify those responsible, with the Anti-Corruption Department also taking up the case.

He explained that separate approved procedures exist for recruitment against vacancies and for creating new positions, both of which were reportedly bypassed deliberately.

Aslam added that the Finance Department itself reportedly traced and detected the fraud, exposing one of the largest financial irregularities in recent years.
