Dubai Imposes Up to AED 200,000 Fine on Truck Drivers

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a wide-ranging inspection campaign targeting improper practices by truck drivers, especially random parking on main roads and under bridges across the emirate.

The initiative aims to enhance road safety, improve traffic flow, and protect Dubai’s infrastructure and urban landscape.

Arif Shakri, Director of Right-of-Way at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said the inspections are designed to regulate activities within the right-of-way and prevent unauthorised practices that obstruct public facilities.

He added that RTA will continue conducting both scheduled and surprise inspections to identify violations and take swift action against offenders.

As part of the campaign, authorities have intensified checks in key areas where trucks frequently park irregularly.

The RTA says these violations disrupt traffic and pose serious risks to road users, making enforcement essential to maintaining smooth mobility.

To support truck drivers, the RTA has developed 14 dedicated truck rest stops across Dubai, offering prayer rooms, fuel stations, retail outlets, restaurants, maintenance workshops, and designated driver rest areas.

These facilities are located along major highways to reduce unsafe parking and improve safety, particularly during restricted truck-movement hours.

The RTA has urged transport companies and drivers to comply with parking regulations, warning that random truck parking on main roads or within the right-of-way is a clear violation.

Penalties start at Dh5,000 and can reach Dh200,000 in repeated or serious cases, as outlined in Executive Council Resolution No. 54 of 2021.
