Punjab Govt Hospital Reportedly Punished for Using Expired Anti-Cancer Injections

Four employees of Mayo Hospital Lahore have been penalised for administering an expired anti-cancer vaccine in the hospital’s Oncology Ward, 24NewsHD reported on Friday.

During a routine inspection, hospital officials detected the use of an expired anti-cancer injection. Following the discovery, an inquiry committee was formed to determine responsibility.

The committee recommended strict disciplinary action, including stopping three annual increments of the deputy drug controller.

Annual increments of two dispensers, Shehzad Mehmood and Rizwan, were also halted for three years.

Additionally, the inquiry ordered a one-year increment stoppage for Incharge Nurse Shehla Nazir.

Officials said the disciplinary measures underscore the hospital’s zero-tolerance policy toward negligence in critical care units, especially those dealing with cancer patients.
