Bus Hostess Killed as Fog Causes Bus-Trailer Accident on Motorway

A bus hostess was killed, and six passengers were injured after a bus collided with a trailer on the M-4 Motorway near Kabirwala, reportedly due to dense fog, on Friday.

According to the Motorway Police, the accident occurred near the Makhdoom Pur Interchange when the bus travelling from Lahore to Multan crashed into a trailer. Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the alert.

Rescue officials said emergency workers cut open the bus to free passengers trapped inside. They shifted the injured and the body of the deceased hostess to Civil Hospital Kabirwala.

A Motorway Police spokesperson said the crash occurred due to driver negligence and drowsiness, which worsened visibility conditions caused by fog.

The incident highlights growing safety concerns on highways during winter fog.

Last year, a similar collision on the M-9 Motorway near Hyderabad–Jamshoro claimed three lives and injured 10 others, while another accident on the Indus Highway near Khanot killed three people after a vehicle overturned.

Authorities have urged drivers to remain cautious, reduce speed, and avoid travel during heavy fog to prevent further tragedies.
