PSL 11 May Host Matches in Azad Kashmir

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has revealed plans of taking the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) action to Muzaffarabad Stadium in Azad Kashmir, with plans also in place to stage international matches at the venue in the future.

Speaking about the board’s long-term vision, Naqvi said efforts are underway to include Muzaffarabad as a host city for PSL 11.

The announcement follows the PSL Roadshow held earlier this month at Lord’s in London, where the PCB confirmed that both Abbottabad and Muzaffarabad stadiums are under consideration for significant infrastructure upgrades.

The board has initiated discussions to modernize the two venues, which have a strong history in domestic cricket but have never hosted international fixtures or PSL matches.

Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium in Azad Kashmir, also known as Narol Cricket Stadium, has been a central venue for the Kashmir Premier League since the tournament’s launch. Beyond cricket, the stadium has played an important community role, including being used as a temporary hospital following major earthquakes.

It has hosted several Under-19 and senior inter-district events but has yet to be added to Pakistan’s list of international grounds.

Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, located more than 1,200 metres above sea level, is widely admired for its scenic setting. Pakistan great Wasim Akram has previously described it as “the most beautiful stadium in the world.”

The ground has regularly staged First-Class and List-A matches, including Quaid-e-Azam Trophy games, and served as Pakistan’s training base ahead of the 2013 Champions Trophy due to conditions similar to those in England. Despite its reputation, the venue is still waiting for its first international or PSL fixture.
