PMD Issues Fog Warning for Most Parts of the Country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that fog will intensify and last longer across Punjab, Upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the week.

The PMD said cold and dry weather will prevail across most parts of the country on Wednesday. However, moderate to dense fog and smog will continue in Punjab, Upper Sindh, and the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reducing visibility and disrupting routine activities.

Islamabad and surrounding areas will experience cold and dry conditions.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cold and partly cloudy weather will dominate most districts. The department said moderate to dense fog may form during morning and night hours in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan, and nearby areas.

Punjab will also remain cold and dry, with harsher conditions expected in hill stations such as Murree and Galiyat. The PMD said moderate to dense fog and smog are likely to persist in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and other districts including Sialkot, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

In Sindh, dry weather will continue across most districts, with cold conditions during morning and night. Fog is likely in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Mohenjodaro, and surrounding areas.

Balochistan will experience cold and partly cloudy weather, while Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will see very cold conditions with partly cloudy skies.

During the past 24 hours, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed across most areas, with dense fog and smog continuing in the plains. The lowest temperature recorded was minus five degrees Celsius in Leh, while Gupis, Kalat, Bagrote, and Skardu recorded minus two degrees Celsius.
