Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has taken immediate action to reduce transport fares following a significant cut in diesel prices.
According to details, Bilal Akbar Khan directed officials to issue revised fare lists and ordered the formation of monitoring teams in all districts to ensure a reduction in transport fares.
He instructed authorities to take strict action against transporters charging excessive fares and directed all Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) to submit reports on fare reductions.
The transport minister also ordered officials to ensure that transporters refund excess amounts collected from passengers.
Bilal Akbar Khan said the government will pass on the direct benefit of lower diesel prices to the public. He warned that authorities will show no leniency toward transporters who continue to charge fares above the approved rates.
