Punjab Announces New Marking System for Board Exams

Punjab education authorities will shift the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) system to on-screen marking from next year, starting with computer science as the pilot subject.

Officials said the decision aims to modernize assessment procedures, speed up result processing, and curb long-standing irregularities in examination administration.

Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Task Force on Boards Muzammil Mahmood announced the reform during a briefing attended by education administrators.

Officials said the move forms part of a broader digitization drive that will standardize examination rules, introduce biometric verification at examination centers, and overhaul practical examination protocols to better reflect students’ actual competency.

Authorities said they selected computer science for the pilot phase because of its objective answer format and its compatibility with digital marking systems.
