The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has approved the dispatch of rescue and relief equipment to Murree in view of forecasts of heavy snowfall.
Provincial Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for Disaster Management Khawaja Salman Rafique took the decision during a meeting on Thursday, attended by PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the available rescue and relief equipment, including search and rescue jackets, snow chains for tires, mechanical saws, winter tents, raincoats, folding shawls, quilts, warm gloves, umbrellas, and hats.
Speaking to media representatives, Khawaja Salman Rafique said authorities have completed arrangements ahead of the expected snowfall in Murree. He said the PDMA is providing snow-fighting equipment to the Murree administration to ensure preparedness.
The minister said the PDMA is taking preventive measures to protect lives and property. He added that timely planning and preparedness can help avert accidents and emergencies during severe weather conditions.
