The government plans to launch a two-year development initiative for Islamabad titled Vision 2027, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Thursday.
Speaking at a ceremony in the capital, the interior minister said the initiative aims to transform Islamabad after its completion over a two-year period. He did not share further details of the program at the event.
Officials said a large number of development projects are being planned under Vision 2027.
During his address, the interior minister said cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely completion remain the government’s priorities for development projects in the capital.
He also referred to ongoing efforts to remove illegal encroachments, saying such constructions create hurdles in urban planning and project implementation if not addressed in time.
Separately, the interior minister announced a plan to address water shortages in Islamabad. Addressing members of the National Assembly present at the ceremony, he said the issue would be taken up on a priority basis and added that a task force is already working on the matter.
