PFF Congress Members Reportedly Arrested Ahead of Executive Committee Elections

The Sindh Football Association (SFA) has alleged that two members of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Congress were taken into police custody in Karachi ahead of a key election.

According to SFA, Congress members Muhammad Siddiq and Kifayatullah were allegedly picked up by police in the city.

The association claims the move is an attempt to influence the outcome of the December 28 PFF Executive Committee elections for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) seats.

SFA has framed the incident as a direct attempt to disrupt the voting process and undermine the integrity of the upcoming polls, though no official police statement on the matter had been reported at the time of filing this story.

Earlier this month, a Lahore court ruled in favor of the PFF in a long‑running dispute over its frozen bank account, clearing the way for the federation to finally regain access to its funds after nearly four years of financial paralysis.

Under President Mohsen Gilani, the federation is now preparing to approach the Bank of Punjab and relevant government bodies to complete the handover, a basic but crucial step as PFF tries to rebuild the game while fresh election‑related tensions continue to bubble in the background.
