The Punjab Auqaf Department has approved development schemes worth over Rs. 50 million for the construction and renovation of shrines and mosques across the province under the ADP 2025-26.
According to official documents, Rs. 10 million has been set aside for the renovation of Dargah Shah Chiragh, Rs. 20 million for work at the shrine of Shah Sufair in Sohawa (Jhelum), and Rs. 10 million for development at Jamia Masjid Usmania in Okara. Funds have also been allocated for upgrading the Langar Khana and library at the shrine of Baba Farid in Pakpattan.
At Dargah Shah Chiragh, the approved scheme includes removal of old lime plaster from the exterior and fresh fresco work inside the shrine, with a total cost of Rs. 10 million.
At the shrine of Shah Sufair, construction of boundary walls around the Langar Khana is in progress, along with renovation of ablution facilities and washrooms. The Rs. 20 million project also covers excavation, leveling, dressing, and filling of the surrounding area.
In Okara, Rs. 10 million will be spent on development work at Jamia Masjid Usmania, aimed at improving basic facilities for worshippers.
Punjab Auqaf Chief Administrator Ehsan Bhutta said the schemes would be completed in the near future, adding that the department’s focus was to provide better amenities to visitors while safeguarding Punjab’s religious and spiritual heritage.
