Pakistan Young Tennis Star Wins Junior Title in USA

Pakistan’s promising junior tennis player, Shayan Afridi, won the El Paso Sports Commission Junior Open Tennis Tournament in the under-14 category after a dominant performance in the final.

He defeated Andrew Hiotellkis by 4–0 in the championship match, which was played at the El Paso Tennis Club in Texas, United States.

Shayan Afridi is currently in the United States along with fellow junior player Rashid Ali.

Before arriving in Texas, both players competed in the Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship in Miami. They played in the main draw, which is a major achievement at the international junior level.

After the Orange Bowl, the Pakistan Tennis Federation, in collaboration with the BARD Foundation, sent Shayan Afridi and Rashid Ali to Texas for a one-month training and competition program.

The program is being conducted under the supervision of renowned and ATP-Certified Trainer Eduardo Vicencuo Lalovic. During this period, both players have been undergoing intensive training while also participating in local tournaments to improve their competitive experience.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, praised the young players and said that Shayan Afridi and Rashid Ali are highly talented and represent the future of Pakistan tennis.

He added that the Pakistan Tennis Federation is committed to providing international exposure and quality training opportunities to junior players. He further said that Shayan’s tournament victory clearly shows that Pakistan’s junior development pathway is progressing in the right direction.
