The Karachi administration has extended the restriction on motor cab rickshaws across 25 major roads of the city for another two months to ease traffic congestion and maintain smoother traffic flow.
According to a notification issued by the Commissioner Karachi under Section 144, the ban will remain in effect until February 21, 2026, following recommendations from the traffic police. The move aims to control traffic pressure, reduce the risk of accidents, and improve overall traffic management in the metropolis.
Under the decision, 1+2 and 1+4 motor cab rickshaws will continue to be barred from operating on key arterial roads. These include Shahrah-e-Faisal, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Sher Shah Suri Road, Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Abdullah Haroon Road up to Do Talwar, Shahrah-e-Firdousi, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, and Rashid Minhas Road.
The restriction also applies to Mauripur Road, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Hub Road, Qaidabad to Landhi 89, University Road, Korangi Road from Qayyumabad to Korangi Crossing, Orangi Road, Super Highway to Malir Halt, and the stretch from Surjani to Sohrab Goth.
Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against violators, with police empowered to register cases under Section 144.
