Pakistani Business Community Faces Repeated Kidnappings
The latest incident has renewed concerns among Pakistani business owners living in South Africa.
Members of the community say Pakistani traders have faced numerous kidnappings for ransom in recent years.
In several cases, kidnappers allegedly killed victims even after receiving ransom payments.
These incidents have created widespread fear among Pakistani families and business owners across the country.
Involvement of People Close to Victims Alleged
Sources claim that, in some kidnapping cases, friends or relatives of victims may have provided information to criminal groups.
They allegedly help plan the abductions and later receive a share of the ransom money.
However, authorities have not publicly confirmed such claims in the Khurram Shehzad case.
Pakistani Government Criticised Over Lack of Action
Pakistani business owners in South Africa have also criticised the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They say Pakistani authorities have not held meaningful talks with the South African government over the growing threat of kidnappings.
Community members believe the issue requires urgent diplomatic attention and stronger coordination between the two countries.
They argue that Pakistani businessmen in South Africa send significant foreign exchange to Pakistan every month.
Therefore, they want the government to take immediate steps to improve their security and raise the issue with South African authorities.
