Another Pakistani Talent Joins the 2025/26 BPL

Another Pakistani star is heading to Bangladesh’s premier T20 competition, with left-arm pacer Salman Mirza signing for Dhaka Capitals ahead of the new Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.

The Capitals have moved to secure the in-form fast bowler after his impressive performances for Pakistan in 2025. Mirza enjoyed a breakout year, emerging as one of the most exciting left‑arm options in the country’s pace stocks.

The 28‑year‑old featured prominently in the T20I series against Bangladesh and South Africa. His ability to swing the new ball and bowl with control at the death earned him praise from pundits and team management alike.

On the domestic circuit, Mirza further underlined his credentials by claiming the Player of the Final award in the National T20 Cup, helping his side over the line in a high-pressure clash. He has also turned out for Lahore Qalandars in franchise cricket, where his sharp angles and variations have been a regular feature.

Dhaka Capitals will be hoping Mirza can replicate that form in the BPL, adding bite to their pace attack and variety alongside their existing bowling options.

The signing comes amid a late twist elsewhere in the league. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, who had been lined up to represent Chattogram Royals this season, has pulled out of the tournament just days before the first ball is due to be bowled, forcing the franchise to rethink its spin department.

The upcoming BPL season will kick off today, with Sylhet Titans taking on Rajshahi Warriors in the opening fixture at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. With Mirza now in the mix, Pakistani fans will have yet another reason to keep a close eye on this year’s edition.
