Pakistan Includes Surprise New Faces in Squad for Sri Lanka Tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I tour of Sri Lanka, with Shadab Khan making a return to the national side ahead of the three-match series scheduled for next month.

The squad was named by the Men’s National Selection Committee, with Salman Ali Agha set to continue as captain.

Shadab Khan last featured for Pakistan in June before undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this year. After completing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, the all-rounder has regained match fitness and is currently in action in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL 15).

The selectors have also handed a call-up to uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Nafay. The 23-year-old right-hander has impressed in domestic cricket and during his time with the Pakistan Shaheens, scoring at a strike rate of 132.81 across 32 T20 appearances.

Pakistan is expected to depart for Sri Lanka in the first week of January. All three T20Is will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla on January 7, 9, and 11.

The Sri Lanka tour is a crucial step in Pakistan’s build-up to the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Pakistan is scheduled to play all the World Cup matches in Colombo.
