Pakistan vs Australia T20I Series Schedule Confirmed

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that there are no plans to increase the number of T20I matches in Australia’s upcoming tour of Pakistan.

PCB Chairman has confirmed that the series will go ahead as scheduled, featuring three T20Is only.

Reports had earlier suggested that the PCB approached Cricket Australia to expand the T20I leg of the tour from three to five matches, with the intention of giving Pakistan additional match practice ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Those discussions reportedly followed a request from Cricket Australia, which asked Pakistan not to recall its star players (Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Haris Rauf) from the ongoing 2025/25 Big Bash League (BBL 15) for the T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Around the same time, a Cricket Australia delegation visited Lahore to review security arrangements ahead of the tour.

The visiting officials inspected key venues, including Gaddafi Stadium, the National Cricket Academy, and the LCCA Ground, while being briefed by the PCB and local security agencies on tour-related safety protocols. The assessment was part of routine planning to ensure arrangements meet Australia’s security requirements.

Despite interest from some players to return for national duty, particularly those struggling in the Australian conditions,  the PCB eventually agreed to allow the players to remain in the BBL.

With the latest confirmation from the PCB chairman, it is now clear that only three T20Is will be played against Australia, and no further expansion of the series is under consideration at this stage.
