The Islamabad Traffic Police have set up eight checkpoints across the federal capital to curb lane violations by motorcyclists and improve road safety.
An ITP spokesperson said on Tuesday that motorcyclists’ failure to follow lane discipline creates serious dangers for other road users and frequently results in fatal crashes. To address the issue, traffic police deployed checkpoints at key locations to closely monitor traffic movement and prevent wrong-way driving.
The spokesperson said such violations not only put lives at risk but also disrupt the smooth flow of traffic. He added that traffic police have launched an enforcement drive against lane violations and wrong-way driving as part of these measures.
The ITP urged motorcyclists to follow designated lanes and comply with traffic laws to avoid legal action and help maintain safer roads. The spokesperson said the traffic police remain focused on ensuring orderly traffic conditions and facilitating commuters throughout the city.
