Major City in Punjab to Get Its First Recharge Well

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Faisalabad has decided to construct a recharge well and an underground storage tank in Madina Town to improve rainwater drainage and to address declining groundwater levels during the upcoming monsoon.

This project is being implemented for the first time in the city’s history.

Under the project, a recharge well will be constructed in the green belt along Susan Road, while an underground storage tank will be built in the green belt adjacent to Faizan Madina Chowk.

The initiative aims to improve rainwater management while also contributing to groundwater recharge.

Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza, along with other officials, visited Susan Road in Madina Town to inspect the proposed site for the recharge well.

The team also reviewed the location identified for the underground storage tank and issued necessary instructions to ensure the timely completion of the project.

Speaking on the occasion, MD WASA Saqib Raza said that rainwater collected through the recharge well on Susan Road would not only speed up drainage but also help replenish the groundwater table.

Similarly, rainwater stored in the underground tank near Faizan Madina Chowk would later be discharged into the sewerage system, significantly reducing water accumulation during heavy rainfall.

He further stated that the PHA administration was fully supporting the project and would carry out plantation of aesthetically pleasing plants along both green belts.

With these measures, he added, Susan Road in Madina Town would be developed as a model road for the city.
