TCL Note A1 NxtPaper Lets You Take Notes On a Paper-Like Screen

TCL has officially introduced the Note A1 NxtPaper, a new digital note-taking device positioned to compete with products such as the ReMarkable Paper Pro and the Kindle Scribe. It should be ideal for those who prefer to read on a paper-like screen.

The device combines a large NxtPaper display, stylus input, and AI-powered productivity tools, while retaining tablet-like hardware specifications.

The TCL Note A1 NxtPaper features an 11.5-inch NxtPaper Pure display with a resolution of 2200 x 1440 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel delivers up to 300 nits of peak brightness, supports adaptive brightness, and is certified for eye comfort. TCL says the display offers reflection-free, paper-like clarity aimed at reducing eye strain in varied lighting conditions.

The device is built with an aluminum unibody, measures 5.5mm in thickness, and weighs 500 grams. Powering the hardware is an 8,000 mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging, which TCL claims provides long standby time.

Internally, the Note A1 runs on MediaTek Helio G100, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It also includes a 13MP rear camera, dual speakers, and eight microphones.

The Note A1 ships with the T-Pen Pro, a dual-tip stylus that includes an eraser. It supports 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity and offers under 5ms latency. According to TCL, the stylus is certified for pencil-like writing and is designed to replicate the resistance and texture of real paper.

TCL has integrated several AI-powered tools into the Note A1. These include AI Rewrite, Writing Assist, and Inspiration Space, which organizes notes and ideas for easier content management. The device also supports real-time transcription and translation, as well as automated meeting summaries.

Optional accessories for the Note A1 include a flip case and a keyboard case. The TCL Note A1 NxtPaper is priced at $549 and is expected to begin shipping around the globe in February.
