PTA Launches District-Level Internet Service Licenses to Boost Broadband Access

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has commenced the grant of Class Licenses for the provision of internet services at the district level. The initiative is aimed at encouraging local entrepreneurship and expanding broadband penetration across Pakistan.

Under the framework, the Class License will be issued for a period of 10 years. Applicants are required to pay a one-time initial license fee of Rs. 300,000. An annual license fee (ALF) of Rs. 100,000 for the first year will be payable along with the initial fee before the license becomes effective. The ALF for subsequent years will be payable in advance and will be subject to an annual increase of 10 percent.

Interested applicants have been advised to apply in accordance with the prescribed checklist and submit their applications online through PTA’s portal. The license template is also available on PTA’s website.
