The Punjab government has decided to revise the curriculum of school textbooks for the academic year 2026–27.
According to an official announcement by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), most textbooks will remain unchanged.
However, textbooks for Class 9 Computer Science and Entrepreneurship will be revised. A reviewed and updated Computer Science syllabus for Grade 9 will be printed, while the number of pages in the Computer Science and Entrepreneurship (Tech) Grade 9 textbooks will be reduced.
In this regard, PCTB has issued instructions to update the printing orders for these textbooks. PCTB has also directed educational institutions to ensure the immediate implementation of these changes.
Officials said the purpose of these revisions is to develop modern knowledge, creative thinking, and an educational understanding aligned with contemporary needs among students.
Education circles have described this step as positive, stating that updating the curriculum over time is essential. They further expressed hope that the new curriculum will help improve the overall quality of teaching.
