The Punjab Transport Department has announced a decrease in intercity bus fares from Lahore to other cities following a decrease in petroleum product prices.
Under the new policy, bus fares have been reduced by Rs. 60 to Rs. 200 to make travel more affordable and convenient for the public.
According to the revised fare structure, the fare from Lahore to Islamabad has been reduced from Rs. 1,910 to Rs. 1,850, while the fare to Murree has been lowered from Rs. 2,370 to Rs. 2,290.
The fare to Peshawar has been cut from Rs. 2,610 to Rs. 2,530, and travel to Mansehra now costs Rs. 2,420, down from Rs. 2,500.
Similarly, fares to Abbottabad have been reduced from Rs. 2,310 to Rs. 2,240, Faisalabad from Rs. 1,010 to Rs. 980, and Sadiqabad from Rs. 2,510 to Rs. 2,430.
The fare from Lahore to Karachi has been decreased from Rs. 5,800 to Rs. 5,620, while fares to Sukkur and Multan have been lowered from Rs. 3,510 to Rs. 3,400 and Rs. 1,700 to Rs. 1,650, respectively.
Officials from the Transport Department said the move aims to ease the financial burden on citizens and make intercity travel more economical.
The fare reduction follows the federal government’s recent announcement of a cut in fuel prices at the start of the new year.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, petrol prices were reduced by Rs. 10.28 per litre, while high-speed diesel prices were cut by Rs. 8.57 per litre.
