The Punjab government has extended the validity of green emission stickers issued to vehicles across the province, allowing motorists additional time to remain compliant with environmental regulations.
According to a public notice issued by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab, green stickers that were previously valid until December 31, 2025 will now remain valid until June 30, 2026. The extension applies only to the validity period of already issued stickers and does not announce a new deadline for obtaining green stickers.
Earlier, in November, the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department Punjab announced that Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths and authorized testing workshops had become fully operational across Lahore.
The department stated that motorists can access emission testing services from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with a scheduled break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
ETS booths operate at several locations, including Kalma Chowk, Emporium Mall, Valencia Town, Mall Road’s Business Facilitation Center, Al Kabir Town, Central Park, Model Town Park, Khayaban-e-Ameen on Ring Road, and Shahaam Town near Airport Road DHA.
Authorized testing is also available at designated workshops, including Toyota Walton, Toyota Sahara, Suzuki Canal, Suzuki Raiwind, Suzuki Shalamar, Suzuki Premier, Honda Gateway on Multan Road, and Master Motors DHA.
That’s good but I got the new sticker after testing on 30th Dec 25. Astonishingly I found that the sticker being pasted is valid till 30 Sep 26 and the old thrown away. On inquiring, I was told they were printed earlier.
I strongly feel that the validity of EPA stickers should be MINIMUM ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF TESTING AND FIXING. I URGE UPON GOVT. TO HAVE THE DATES ADJUSTED FOR LAW ABIDING CITIZENS ACCORDINGLY BY CONSIDERING THE TESTING AND FIXING THE DATES OF PREVIOUS STICKER AND EXTENDING THE DATE OF NEXT STICKER TO MAKE FOR TWO Years IN TOTAL for these first two stickers. Hereinafter, sticker should bear the date of fixing which be written by the fixer team.
Let me add that newer automobile engines are likely to remain compliant to EPA/ International Environmental Pollution Control standards till their life time provided they are kept properly maintained. So five years old cars in personal use should be exempted. None of my and my children’s cars ranging from ONE year to FIFTEEN years old (milage from 13K to 225K) is non compliant. All of those are fit as they are kept properly maintained & tuned up.
This is good initiative but the law of transport safety and road safety must be according to International standards if Govt do this then all Chingchi Rickshaws and heavy local truck will be off road because of they are not safe on roads, for public and environment. Pakistani elite class motor vehicles are also nnot compliance with public safety features or quality standards but prices are higher than ever in region. It’s shameful.
What about other cities of Punjab, where ETS are working to issue green stickers.
